Travel Through the STAGES Menu

Open the main menu and select STAGES to travel to another stage. Backseat Rally has five stages across forests, snowy passes, and cherry-blossom roads, with rain, mud, and snow among its driving conditions.

Pine Forest and Alpine Pass offer two distinct routes: choose Pine Forest for a shorter woodland run, or Alpine Pass for mountain roads that lead into snow. Use the route details below to plan your next attempt.

Pine Forest: Start Location and Route

Pine Forest is Stage 01, in Northern Woodland. Its timed route has 12 checkpoints; follow the CP counter to track your progress.

At the service park, look for the PINE FOREST banner marked STAGE 1 · SERVICE PARK · 1.5 KM. Face the banner: the red START gantry is straight ahead, and GARAGE is on your right. Head toward the gantry to find the start area.

The course follows forest dirt roads lined with red-and-white posts. Mud can collect on the windshield, so keep checking the visible road edges and upcoming-turn arrows. Left and right arrows indicate the bend direction; SLIGHT identifies a gentle bend. Reading those cues early helps you prepare when mud obscures part of the road.

Alpine Pass: Mountain Roads and Snow

Alpine Pass is Stage 02. Its timed route has 13 checkpoints and moves from wooded mountain roads into snowy sections. Compared with Pine Forest, it adds 0.1 km, one corner, and one checkpoint—a modest increase in route size, with a different setting to learn.

Watch the upcoming-turn arrows as you climb into the snow. A HARD left arrow calls for a sharp left turn. For hairpins, brake before the corner, then steer and use Space for the handbrake during the turn. Prepare before reaching the bend instead of waiting until you are already turning.

For the full keyboard sequence and recovery options, see driving controls and hairpin technique.

Find and Read Pine Forest Weekly

Look for the large PINE FOREST WEEKLY boards in the service-park area near the stage entrance. The nearby WEEK’S TOP 3 display highlights the leading places.

Read the boards by category and entry label:

  • Class D: compare runs in D-class cars.
  • Overall: check the broader standings across classes.
  • Run time: compare completion times within the board you are reading; lower times are faster.
  • SOLO: identifies a solo entry.
  • Two player names: identifies a paired entry.

Use Class D when comparing your D-class run with others in the same class. Check Overall when you want to see the stage’s wider competition. Read the in-game boards for the current names and times.

Check Your Best Time and Gold Target

Open the main menu and look at the current stage’s information to find your best time. At the start area, read the GOLD target on the stage panel before planning a medal attempt. Your best time is your recorded result; GOLD is the target to compare it against.

Use the target displayed on your current panel. For stage targets and help calculating how much time you need to cut, open the gold medal times and time-gap calculator.

If the start panel says NO GHOST YET, it means no ghost is currently present. You can still start the stage.

Once you have chosen a route, follow the stage-start instructions to position your car, handle start-box prompts, and begin the timed run.
