Backseat Rally Gold Medal Times and Time Gap Calculator

Last updated:

Check your stage’s gold target, then compare it with your result to see how much time you need to save. Pine Forest has two displayed targets, so use the one on your current start panel.

Alpine Pass displays a gold target of 1:23.5 (83.5 seconds). Pine Forest has displayed both 1:12.0 (72 seconds) and 1:20 (80 seconds); use your current panel’s value. Convert your result and target to seconds, then subtract the target from your result. Add separate penalties only if your entered time excludes them.

Compare a user-entered stage time with the current target, adding separate penalties only when needed.

Comparison time = entered time + separate penalties if the entered time excludes them. Gap = comparison time − target time.

  • Enter both times in seconds; convert minutes using 60 × minutes + seconds.
  • Use the target shown on your current stage panel.
  • A positive gap is time to save; a negative gap is the margin below the target.
  • The result compares displayed numbers and does not determine the game's medal boundary.
  • Initial values are editable examples, not stage presets.

Gold Targets for Pine Forest and Alpine Pass

Read the yellow GOLD label on the stage’s start panel before setting your target.

For Pine Forest, a panel showing 1:12.0 means 72 seconds; a panel showing 1:20 means 80 seconds. Use whichever appears in your game rather than treating either value as a replacement for the other. Alpine Pass displays 1:23.5, or 83.5 seconds.

For help reaching the start panel and beginning a run, see how to start a stage.

    80 s (Alternative target display example: 1:20.)
  • Alpine Pass Gold

Calculate Your Gap to the Target

Enter your result in Result time and the start panel’s target in Current target time, both in seconds. Use Penalty basis to specify whether the result excludes a separate penalty total; the next section explains how to enter that total once.

Read Comparison time as the time being compared with your target. Gap to target tells you where that time stands:

  • Positive: the number of seconds you need to save to reach the displayed target.
  • Negative: your margin below the target.
  • Zero: your entered comparison time equals the entered target.

Use the gap to set a time-saving goal for your next attempt. It compares the numbers you enter. Replace the tool’s initial example values with your own times.

Enter Times and Penalties Once

Convert a time written in minutes and seconds using 60 × minutes + seconds. For example, 1:19.2 becomes 79.2 seconds. Against a 1:12.0 target, the calculation is 79.2 − 72 = +7.2 seconds.

Pine Forest’s menu has also paired a best of 1:19.2 with a 7.3-second gap to gold. Keep that game-displayed gap separate from the 7.2-second subtraction above.

Choose the penalty basis that matches your input:

  • Your time already includes penalties: use it directly and leave separate penalties out of the calculation.
  • Your time excludes a known penalty total: select that basis and enter the total under Separate penalties. The calculator adds it once.

Enter a known penalty amount in seconds rather than assigning a fixed amount to each recovery.

Gold Bonuses and Alpine Pass Collectibles

An Alpine Pass first-gold finish can award Gold Medal and First Gold as separate reward rows. The amounts below belong to an Alpine Pass first-gold result: First Gold adds to the medal bonus, so count both when both appear on your Rewards screen. Do not budget the first-gold bonus into every repeat run.

That same first-gold result unlocked all three Alpine Pass snowflake fresheners together:

  • Bronze Snowflake: Common, labeled Bronze · Alpine Pass in Rewards.
  • Silver Snowflake: Rare, labeled Silver · Alpine Pass in Rewards.
  • Gold Snowflake: Epic, labeled Gold · Alpine Pass in Rewards.

See the air freshener collection and equip guide to find and equip these collectibles. For the other rows that can contribute to a finish, see CR and XP rewards.

  • Alpine Pass Gold

    Gold Medal XP
70 XP (Alpine Pass gold-finish reward example; separate reward line.)
    Gold Medal credits
35 CR (Alpine Pass gold-finish reward example; separate reward line.)
    First Gold XP
80 XP (First-gold bonus example, additional to Gold Medal.)
    First Gold credits
50 CR (First-gold bonus example, additional to Gold Medal.)

Prepare for a Faster Attempt

Start by confirming the current GOLD target, then focus your next attempt on cleaner corner preparation:

  • Read direction and severity together. The arrow gives the turn direction; SLIGHT indicates a gentle bend and HARD indicates a sharp bend. Watch the following turn as well so you can prepare for what comes next.
  • Brake before a hairpin. Use S early, then use Space while turning to initiate a drift. This gives you a concrete technique to practice instead of carrying the same speed into every bend.
  • Choose recovery or a fresh attempt deliberately. During a stage, R returns to the last checkpoint. Hold Backspace to restart at the start box when you want a new attempt.

Use the Pine Forest and Alpine Pass route guide for stage conditions and the driving controls guide for more detail on cornering and recovery.
